Armistice Day Celebration: Drop the MIC

Veterans For Peace, Monterey Chapter 46 invites the community to commemorate Veterans Day and Celebrate the 106th Anniversary of Armistice Day with two special events. Together, we’ll reflect, share, and stand for peace.

Saturday, November 9

Kick off the weekend at “Drop the MIC” – an open mic event at the Monterey Peace and Justice Center in Seaside, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Arrive early for free breakfast refreshments and social time, starting at 10 am. All are welcome to sign up and share a brief story, poem, song, or reflection on the personal cost of war. Whether you’re a veteran, family member, or friend, your voice matters here.

Monday, November 11

Gather with us for a Peace Vigil at Window on the Bay in Monterey, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, as we call for a #GlobalCeasefire. Bring a sign, peace flag, or a bell to ring at 11 am, marking the historic moment the World War I armistice was signed on November 11, 1918. Stand with us as we honor all who have served and as we renew our commitment to peace.

These free events are open to the public. Join us as we create space for community, reflection, and hope while honoring our veterans.
